I am tempted to
say revenge sometimes feeds my
own soul to keep on...

all gone to tumor
and in a heartbeat, newly
independent, loose

cast adrift and made
to see where they stood when you
were just in your crib...

a baby again, lost to
raise one's self, new orphans in
the city on a hill

grief gives way to grief
then to memory, past joys and
hurts, pictures, balloons...

the grill, the walks, the
shared moments of argument
and of keen advice

our loved ones die and
leave us naked to social
weather storms, flash floods

but when life has a
clear meaning, or empathy
that I hope is best...

so that life goes on
as ugly as i get at times
tomorrow kicks my ass

i know that some like
to commit suicide and
some just hang around...

I feel like most folks
hide behind a mask, and buy
into a costume play

I too wear a mask
with my own role, own lines and
my curtain call signs

I was fixing some
damage to my car today
but bad comes from good...

beer makes us happy
burgers barely edible

wishing the lawn is emo
so it cuts itself
